Being a substitute isn't EASY!!!

Being a substitute has had to be the toughest job I have ever encountered. What makes it hard is the fact that you never know when your going to be working during the week. Example you can be doing some errands and all of a sudden 11 o'clock in the morning a phone call comes in that a teacher has to leave and you have to come in, it is very frustrating and annoying because if you anyway like me I organize everything and I mean everything I have 2 boards in my home where one has writing with due dates and where and what Im suppose to be doing and the second has important papers and documents and even with those when I don't know when Im working it leaves me "discombobbled" and having to cancel appointments Im hoping with new changes for Headstart/early childhood things will get better.

Its nap time MUNCH! MUNCH! MUNCH!

I always found it interesting that in my day when the students are taking a nap its like RECESS! for teachers. Because there is considered family style eating with the students and the lunch can be a bit unappealing and unappetizing so you will make a plate but like most won't eat it. So when it is nap time that gives you time to open that pocket book eat that little chocolate bar or bag of skittles or even a bag of chips making sure not to wake up the students with the wrapping and making sure your supervisor or anybody else doesn't walk through the door and catch you so you hide it away every time the door opens LMAOOO its funny what teacher has to do in a Early Childhood/Headstart

Being so called the "BABY"

I am the youngest at my job which isn't anything new for me because I have always grew up amongst adults. But in a work environment I find it to be a different situation I find myself having to be a bit stern with some teachers because they think I am the youngest they are able to order me around and speak to me anyway it is frustrating but I breath in and out usually pulled them aside and explain that I am not your child and I would give you the same respect that I am expecting........UNTIIIILLLL friday when I was embarrassed in front of a parent and almost lost my cool I have never worked with this teacher and never been to this school so like any environment for a teacher in a school I am the outsider so called the "NEWBE" so no one says much and the teachers talk amongst eachother leaving you out. So the teacher for the entire day was very annoying I don't play rough with my male children but I do tickle or play football with them and run around because they are very active and want that attention so I do split my time from sitting with the female students have tea parties to running around being the Cyclops to X-Man whatever character they want me be so I guess when one of the male student went to pull my hair and blow kisses in my neck I grabbed him up to blow bubbles in his tummy turned him upside down while sitting his feet were on my shoulder cause he likes to tumble when he did it she let out this TREMENDOUS YELP! No don't do that Ms.Channel what if he falls on his head and I said what I said ok and left it alone finally the day had come to the end and the children were going home and he ran to me and did the same thing me being who I am forgetting how she felt I picked up cradled kissed him all over his forehead and cheek while his mother was smiling and the teacher walked up to me grabbed the child out my hand smiled and wish them a good weekend. When the door had closed she had said "Ms.Chanel you are young and understand that not all parents like that" before I knew it I blew a fuse and yelled that she doesn't know me and you were out of line and inappropriate to grab that child out my hand WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE! it was wrong in a professional manner but I felt she wasn't taking time to watch my teaching skills and how I understand my students I show affection weather its hugging or cradling my students I love them all the same they are at the age where they want attention and want to feel comfortable so why not give it to them there only 3 years old.

Co teachers VS. Sub

I don't know why some Co Teachers of a classroom can't take advice from a Sub Teacher I find it funny and insensitive or why do they feel the need to talk down to sub teachers as if our job entails being your shadow. I say this because funniest thing Ive been noticing I walk in a classroom theres the teacher I usually walk in sit down and wait for the children to walk in but before I can get my mind together the other teacher is giving me instruction to do this and do that to the point I have to ask what there job title is It gets really annoying.

Never in my life!

I don't want to bring religion in the equation but I am starting to think there is a spirit that followed me here that has gotten me to see things I have NEVER been in or seen. I had a student today that is 2 years old and he is so wonderful until TODAY! so coming down to the end of the day when all my children are to be changed. Some are potty trained so they still need help and some can't get with the program. Now my lovely student Johnny Appleseed is my most ACTIVE! now at the time there was another teacher in the classroom and I was changing and sending them in now like my most teachers your nose becomes a hound trust me you are sense of smell ups a notch you can smell a dirty pull-up miles away lol so I am smelling it but I don't know who it is driving me crazy and I don't know where its coming from..........Sooooooo I decide to do a walk through while doing so as I enter the classroom my LOVELY! Johnny Appleseed had took of his pull-up and smothered it all over the wall himself and two other students TALK ABOUT A FAINT SPELL! the other teacher was hadnt notice because she was cleaning up the blocks in an area and figured I was changing a diaper. I had threw up and my face was BLOOD SHOT RED! I had NEVER IN ALL MY YEARS DEALT WITH THIS! I ended up on my walkie-talkie calling my supervisor and asked to be sent home IMMEDIATLEY! I am literally on 0 TODAY!

Why does a name define you?

I really never got the concept........But either way does your title define you? is saying you work in a daycare really an ego....... you are a teacher but what do we call as they say a "real teacher" to work with the education department you have vacation days as well as summer months off along with regular school hours when the kids leave you do.........but in a childcare facility your doing more work for a lesser pay there are not much vacation days and you walk out the building with your clothes full of stains from baby food or dirty little fingers........ Is saying "daycare" really an issue?
